Memorial of Heroes UnknownMemorial for the unsung heroes can be found on the top of Avala, in Serbia, in a place where a fortress Zrnovo 15 km south-east of Belgrade. It has been designed sculptor Ivan Meštrovičem. The monument has the form of the sarcophagus, two statues on the sides symbolize the guard of honor. Memorial is a reminder of all the victims of the Balkan wars, putting the emphasis that the monument also includes all nations, who have participated in the creation of Serbia.

Serbia Destinations – Golija

Golija mountain

Golija is one of the most beautiful mountains and forests, the richest in Serbia. It is located 40 km southwest of Ivanjica and provides great opportunities for rest and recreation in virtually untouched nature. The highest peak is Jankov rock, 1833 m.

Since 2001. Golija mountain area was placed under state protection as a nature park “Golija”, which is classified in the first category of protection as a natural resource of great importance. Due to the preservation of native natural resources, but also because of cultural values, the MAB / UNESCO Committee in the Nature Park Golija declared a Biosphere Reserve Golija – Studenica.

Monastery in Serbia

Because of architectural features, decorative sculptures, wall paintings, icons, manuscripts, works of applied art, Serbian monasteries attracted the attention of tourists and experts in medieval art.

Architecture of the medieval monasteries of Serbia indicate specific variations. During the 13th and partly built in the 14th century church representatives, in proportion to the facade and the statue of Roman dekorativnoj feel the impact, and they (Studenica, Spa, Dečani, Gradac, Arilje, Mileseva, Sopocani …) are classified into the school of architecture Raška . The first half of the 14th century was marked by achievement, exceptional architecture built during the reign of King Milutin (Gracanica).

Interesting Places in Serbia

Novi Sad

NOVI SAD
Novi Sad is located in Vojvodina, north of Belgrade and is a pleasant town into something resembling the Hungarians. Being a college town has great animation and worthwhile places to visit, as the Revolution Museum, the Museum of Painting and the Museum of Archeology. There is a fortress called Citadel Petrovaridin from where a wonderful view over the fields around Novi Sad, also you can visit galleries and underground room in groups.

North of Belgrade, Vojvodina, Novi Sad is a pleasant university town with a touch of Hungarian. The city, situated in a bend of the Danube, has a lively atmosphere – perhaps because the students – but again, is not affordable accommodation. A one hour walk from the city there is a campsite, another option is downtown hotels.

Pristina

PRISTINA
Pristina is the capital of the autonomous province of Kosovo, is in a plain called Kosovo Polje (Field of Black Birds) and was the capital of Serbia in the Middle Ages. In 1389 the Turks took it and was until 1950 that evolved significantly, both administratively and in education and communications as well as industrially. In Pristina’s population is predominantly Albanian.
