Nis is a great place to relax and enjoy the urban Balkan experience. The third largest city in Serbia offers many historical monuments, museums and archaeological sites. The city has an active shopping district and great places to eat and drink. Niš is also home to several very popular events like the annual international film festival in August.

serbia: tourist information Serbia is a country where several civilizations, cultures, religions, climates and landscapes. The wide variety of beautiful landscapes, cultural monuments and historical sites, health spas and areas for hunting and fishing are major attractions for tourism in Serbia. Serbia borders with Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina to the west, Albania, Montenegro and Macedonia (former Yug R. de.) South, Bulgaria and Romania to the east and Hungary to the north.

Landscape

Serbia is situated in two different geographical parts of Europe. The northern part of the republic consists of the Central European lowlands while the southern part has hills and mountains. More than 15 mountain peaks rising to over 2,000 meters above sea level.

Serbia offers a wealth of natural sites, including five national parks. The main navigable rivers are the Danube, Sava and Tisa. The Danube, Europe’s longest river, runs through almost 600 km of the country. In Serbia a moderate continental climate predominates, and this is more Mediterranean in the south. (more…)
